Hello, my name is Mel (you may have guessed

). I'm a 52 year old retired fireman from Worcestershire and I've been interested (almost fanatical) in motor sport since the late 60's. My first hero was Jim Clark, but ultimately my greatest hero's were Ronnie Peterson and Gilles Villeneuve. This should tell you 2 things I suppose;
1 I prefer my hero's to be fighters rather than "artists", and
2 I'm a bit of a jinx

.
I don't really have any hero's amongst the current crop of drivers - it's hard for someone who's younger than your own kids to be classed as a hero.
I competed in sprints and hillclimbs in the 90's first in a couple of Alfa Romeo's, then a Jedi single seater and finally a classic Mini with some success. It all had to stop when my daughter's education became a priority.
Anyhoo, this looks to be a good place. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
